Minnesota State Laws Governing Irrigation Contractors |
|
Make sure your irrigation and landscape lighting contractor is abiding by all the Laws of Minnesota. This will ensure your experience with your contractor is rewarding and will protect you from any future legal issues that may arise. If you have questions regarding the below information detailing the Law, please feel free to contact us.
What is a Technology Systems Contractor?
- Any low voltage electrical work must be performed by a "Technology Systems Contractor". This includes all irrigation and landscape lighting work - wiring the valves, wiring the controller, wiring the rain sensor, wiring light fixtures, wiring transformers, and installing the direct burial 24 volt wire that controls the entire irrigation system.
- A "Technology Systems Contractor" must be registered with the State, employ a power limited technician, post a Bond, and provided proof of insurance that meets all State standards.
- To see if your potential contractor is licensed, you can contact the State at 651-284-5064 or website at www.electricity.state.mn.us.
- It is the Law. Don’t let your contractor say differently. Every irrigation contractor must have a current license.
- Our Technology Systems Contractor license number is TS01645.
- Ask to see it before any work is performed. Protect Yourself!
What is a Back Flow Preventer?
- All plumbing work associated with the installation of a back-flow preventer must be performed by a licensed plumber.
- The back flow preventer is installed to protect your house water supply against contamination and installed to meet all local codes.
- A permit must be on file with your city and the back flow preventer must be inspected by the city after installation. To pull a permit, a Master Plumber must make that request and perform all the work associated with installation.
- Our plumber is Jay’s Plumbing, Jason Larson. Their MN state license number is 061323PM.
