Does the system help control more than just Mosquitoes?

What type of maintenance does the Mosquito Mist Away System require?

• Nothing from you.  Your service contract with Mosquito Doctor will do all the work.
• The intake filter should be changed out each year.  This prevents clogging of nozzle tips.
• Bi-monthly check of system and cleaning of nozzle tips when refilling insecticide.

Is the Mosquito Mist Away System easy to operate?

Yes, all you do is set the timer, and at designated times, a light mist is released into the air eliminating bothersome mosquitoes and other biting insects.  Your system will also allow you the ability to activate by remote control.  Giving you greater flexibility to run your system during peak times.

What are the installation and operation procedures?

Compared to conventional pest control and insecticide methods Mosquito Doctor systems provide far more effective results for your investment.  Our installation procedures offer an almost invisible system once completed.  The costs are based on coverage area, but comparable to an irrigation system.

Where is the system located and what is required for installation?

Just about anywhere (garage, shed, pool equipment area, basement, etc.).  The drum based system will require an electrical outlet for operation.  The attractive tankless system will need a water supply line and an electrical outlet.  Once installed the misting system virtually disappears, blends into landscape.

Will my Mosquito Misting System be safe?

When used as directed, the product is very safe, and will not harm your children or pets.  As with all products, read and follow the manufactures instructions.

What is Pyrethrin?

Pyrethrins are derived from the extract of chrysanthemum flowers (pyrethrum).  Pyrethrin based formulations are considered by the EPA to be “general use” insecticides – meaning homeowners can buy and use them without a license.  Please see our page describing this insecticide for more details.

Does Pyrethrin leave a residue like other chemicals and synthetic compounds?

No, Pyrethrin is completely biodegradable and will harmlessly decompose after it affects the insects.

Why Pyrethrin over other insecticides?

• It is a contact insecticide which attacks the nervous system of insects almost immediately.
• The molecule structure is so complex that insect resistance is not a practical problem.
• Consists of a group of related compounds which can be used against a wider verity of insects.
• It has much greater flushing effect and it disturbs insects in their hiding places.

Is there a product that is completely environmentally safe?

Yes – GO GREEN, EcoSMART products are created from botanical blend of plant oils.  Botanical based formulations are considered by the EPA to be “minimum risk” insecticides – meaning these products are exempted from EPA registration and reasonable certainty that no harm will result.

Will Pyrethrin kill butterflies, dragonflies, and pollinating bees?

We set up the system to operate during the times when mosquitoes are most active, at dawn and dusk.  Pyrethrins degrade in sunlight, so during the day, when butterflies and dragon flies are most active, they probably won’t be affected.  However, Pyrethrins are toxic to honeybees, fish, and tadpoles

How frequently will I need to refill my system?

Depending on season, location and overall mosquito problem, you will need to refill your insecticide every 2 – 3 months.  This is determined by the frequency and duration of each spray cycle.

How do you schedule an estimate and what does this entail?
